The Real ODM
Born as Robert Anthony Gutierrez in Santa Ana, CA, ODM (One Dope Mexican), began his music career at the age of 16. Once his talent surfaced, he became amongst the top few to start the official movement of the early-90’s Latin rap/hip-hop explosion, through his group Lighter Shade of Brown (LSOB).
“HIP-HOP BIRTHED ME”
ODM has rapped himself into selling well over 1 million records as an artist and producer worldwide, along with his late partner DTTX. With songs that reached the Billboard charts — “On A Sunday Afternoon”, “Homies”, and “Hey DJ” ODM has made a marked stamp in the genre and culture, from early-90s mainstream Hip-Hop to current day and beyond.
After two decades of success as a radio host and DJ (including a #1 spot on his night shows for Riverside’s 99.1 KGGI FM & Los Angeles’s 102.7 KIISFM), ODM is continuing his work in all things Hip-Hop. Even further, you can find him as a community-builder (he makes various appearances at local events and fundraisers), family man (THE RVG FAM, his family’s YouTube channel, boasts 57,000 subscribers to-date) and, of course, as an artist (LSOB continues to tour throughout the country).
From Lighter Shade of Brown to his successful radio career, ODM has always been on the air — now, he reaches listeners as the host of The BLOCK OUT podcast.
After all these years, one thing is still clear: ODM continues to hold it down and represents the culture!!
